Investing.com – Italy stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Chemicals, Financials and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 lost 2.25% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Italcementi (MI:ITAI), which rose 0.09% or 0.010 points to trade at 10.600 at the close. Meanwhile, Campari (MI:CPRI) fell 0.31% or 0.03 points to end at 9.57 and Prysmian (MI:PRY) was down 0.55% or 0.12 points to 21.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS), which fell 9.34% or 0.0208 points to trade at 0.2020 at the close. Azimut Holding (MI:AZMT) declined 6.35% or 0.88 points to end at 12.98 and Mediobanca (MI:MDBI) was down 5.80% or 0.380 points to 6.175.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 315 to 91 and 15 ended unchanged.
Shares in Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS) fell to all time lows; down 9.34% or 0.0208 to 0.2020.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 2.14% or 0.94 to $42.97 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 1.63% or 0.76 to hit $45.83 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.47% or 6.15 to trade at $1311.85 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.79% to 1.1155, while EUR/GBP rose 0.49% to 0.8535.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.78% at 96.02.
