Investing.com – Italy stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Technology and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 fell 1.49%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Saipem (MI:SPMI), which rose 3.38% or 0.0125 points to trade at 0.3827 at the close. Meanwhile, Salvatore Ferragamo (MI:SFER) added 1.20% or 0.22 points to end at 18.56 and A2A (MI:A2) was up 0.93% or 0.011 points to 1.188 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS), which fell 13.99% or 0.0535 points to trade at 0.3290 at the close. Banca Pop Emilia Romagna (MI:EMII) declined 6.73% or 0.210 points to end at 2.910 and Mediaset (MI:MS) was down 4.56% or 0.146 points to 3.056.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 260 to 122 and 29 ended unchanged.
Shares in Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS) fell to all time lows; losing 13.99% or 0.0535 to 0.3290. Shares in Banca Pop Emilia Romagna (MI:EMII) fell to 3-years lows; losing 6.73% or 0.210 to 2.910.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.29% or 0.14 to $48.85 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.32% or 0.16 to hit $50.19 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 1.11% or 14.90 to trade at $1353.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.06% to 1.1145, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8389.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 95.64.
