Investing.com – Italy stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 fell 0.63%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS), which rose 11.43% or 0.0287 points to trade at 0.2799 at the close. Meanwhile, Exor (MI:EXOR) added 3.23% or 1.20 points to end at 38.39 and Buzzi Unicem (MI:BZU) was up 3.13% or 0.60 points to 19.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Terna (MI:TRN), which fell 3.75% or 0.152 points to trade at 3.898 at the close. Saipem (MI:SPMI) declined 3.58% or 0.0145 points to end at 0.3900 and Atlantia (MI:ATL) was down 2.83% or 0.58 points to 19.89.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 229 to 179 and 26 ended unchanged.
Shares in Terna (MI:TRN) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.75% or 0.152 to 3.898. Shares in Buzzi Unicem (MI:BZU) rose to 5-year highs; up 3.13% or 0.60 to 19.80. Shares in Atlantia (MI:ATL) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.83% or 0.58 to 19.89.
Crude oil for December delivery was down 2.26% or 0.98 to $42.43 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 2.17% or 0.97 to hit $43.78 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.06% or 0.75 to trade at $1225.05 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.99% to 1.0747, while EUR/GBP fell 0.30% to 0.8602.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.96% at 99.94.
