Investing.com – Italy stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Chemicals, Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB declined 1.77%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Banco Popolare Sc (MILAN:BAPO), which rose 0.56% or 0.0900 points to trade at 16.2500 at the close. Meanwhile, UBI Banca (MILAN:UBI) added 0.48% or 0.035 points to end at 7.390 and Banca Pop Emilia Romagna (MILAN:EMII) was up 0.43% or 0.035 points to 8.150 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Prysmian (MILAN:PRY), which fell 3.83% or 0.83 points to trade at 20.85 at the close. Tod'S (MILAN:TOD) declined 3.09% or 2.75 points to end at 86.35 and Salvatore Ferragamo (MILAN:SFER) was down 3.09% or 0.86 points to 27.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 357 to 90 and 6 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 4.15% or 1.79 to $41.33 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 3.25% or 1.58 to hit $47.23 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.11% or 12.40 to trade at $1129.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.39% to 1.1068, while EUR/GBP rose 0.43% to 0.7072.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.15% at 96.83.
