Investing.com – Italy stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Chemicals and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB fell 1.12%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MILAN:BMPS), which rose 0.60% or 0.0120 points to trade at 2.0060 at the close. Meanwhile, Saipem (MILAN:SPMI) added 0.45% or 0.04 points to end at 7.89 and Azimut Holding (MILAN:AZMT) was up 0.18% or 0.04 points to 22.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Salvatore Ferragamo (MILAN:SFER), which fell 5.50% or 1.66 points to trade at 28.53 at the close. Moncler SpA (MILAN:MONC) declined 3.20% or 0.58 points to end at 17.52 and Tod'S (MILAN:TOD) was down 3.18% or 3.00 points to 91.20.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 320 to 127 and 5 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 3.87% or 1.74 to $43.22 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 2.86% or 1.46 to hit $49.56 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.33% or 3.60 to trade at $1107.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.08% to 1.1028, while EUR/GBP rose 0.28% to 0.7088.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.14% at 97.36.
