Investing.com – Italy stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology, Utilities and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB fell 1.06%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Banca Monte Paschi Siena (MILAN:BMPS), which fell 0.81% or 0.0050 points to trade at 0.6095 at the close. Meanwhile, Banco Popolare Sc (MILAN:BAPO) fell 0.35% or 0.0500 points to end at 14.4400 and Banca Popolare di Milano Scarl (MILAN:PMII) was up 0.37% or 0.0035 points to 0.9555 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Saipem (MILAN:SPMI), which rose 0.10% or 0.01 points to trade at 9.65 at the close. ENI (MILAN:ENI) declined 0.19% or 0.03 points to end at 15.99 and CNH Industrial NV (MILAN:CNHI) was down 1.65% or 0.125 points to 7.445.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 354 to 118 and 2 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for May delivery was up 4.47% or 2.20 to $51.41 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 5.05% or 2.85 to hit $59.34 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 0.65% or 7.80 to trade at $1204.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.79% to 1.0883, while EUR/GBP fell 0.59% to 0.7328.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.51% at 97.58.
