Investing.com – Italy stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Oil & Gas and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 rose 0.82%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Mediaset (MI:MS), which rose 4.94% or 0.132 points to trade at 2.802 at the close. Meanwhile, Azimut Holding (MI:AZMT) added 3.63% or 0.50 points to end at 14.29 and STMicroelectronics (MI:STM) was up 3.21% or 0.210 points to 6.760 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS), which fell 2.00% or 0.0048 points to trade at 0.2350 at the close. Banca Popolare di Milano Scarl (MI:PMII) declined 0.73% or 0.0027 points to end at 0.3669 and Mediobanca (MI:MDBI) was down 0.40% or 0.025 points to 6.290.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 234 to 136 and 28 ended unchanged.
Shares in Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS) fell to all time lows; falling 2.00% or 0.0048 to 0.2350.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 2.78% or 1.30 to $48.09 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 1.83% or 0.91 to hit $50.76 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.53% or 7.15 to trade at $1355.95 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.41% to 1.1336, while EUR/GBP fell 0.43% to 0.8623.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.45% at 94.26.
