Investing.com – India stocks were mixed after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Metals, Oil & Gas and Real Estate sectors led shares higher while losses in the Banking, IT and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.00%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.05%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Cairn India Limited (NS:CAIL), which rose 6.67% or 8.55 points to trade at 136.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 4.72% or 3.75 points to end at 83.15 and Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN) was up 3.38% or 2.95 points to 90.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bank Of Baroda (NS:BOB), which fell 4.70% or 7.00 points to trade at 141.90 at the close. State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) declined 2.68% or 5.05 points to end at 183.35 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:HLL) was down 2.65% or 22.50 points to 826.25.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (BO:HALC) which rose 4.73% to 83.10, Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which was up 3.50% to settle at 90.30 and Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which gained 2.49% to close at 348.45.
The worst performers were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 2.90% to 3461.55 in late trade, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which lost 2.52% to settle at 183.65 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was down 2.48% to 827.55 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 719 to 704 and 60 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 428 fell and 384 advanced, while 29 ended unchanged.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.26% to 18.4650.
Gold for April delivery was up 0.82% or 10.40 to $1274.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.98% or 0.37 to hit $37.53 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.61% or 0.25 to trade at $40.59 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.59% to 67.388, while EUR/INR rose 0.55% to 74.1800.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 97.17.
