Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Consumer Durables, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Auto sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 1.30%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 1.24%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH), which rose 2.78% or 617.75 points to trade at 22820.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA) added 0.82% or 0.60 points to end at 73.40 and Tata Power Co. Ltd (NS:TTPW) was up 0.82% or 0.60 points to 73.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI), which fell 3.83% or 201.10 points to trade at 5051.00 at the close. Tata Motors Ltd . (NS:TAMO) declined 3.59% or 16.10 points to end at 432.10 and Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) was down 3.50% or 32.85 points to 906.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Auto Limited (BO:BAJA) which rose 0.64% to 2702.45, Cipla Ltd. (BO:CIPL) which was up 0.57% to settle at 571.40 and Hero MotoCorp Limited (BO:HROM) which gained 0.17% to close at 3183.70.
The worst performers were Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:ASPN) which was down 3.57% to 905.55 in late trade, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which lost 3.44% to settle at 5068.45 and Tata Motors Ltd. (BO:TAMO) which was down 3.37% to 433.05 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1141 to 317 and 71 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1770 fell and 842 advanced, while 121 ended unchanged.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 7.46% to 17.9325.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.38% or 4.45 to $1173.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.00% or 0.51 to hit $50.55 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.04% or 0.56 to trade at $53.38 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.04% to 68.225, while EUR/INR fell 0.14% to 72.6460.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 101.04.
