Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Consumer Durables sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the S&P CNX Nifty rose 0.60%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.49%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P CNX Nifty were Idea Cellular Ltd (NSE:IDEA), which rose 3.53% or 6.00 points to trade at 176.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Coal India Limited (NSE:COAL) added 3.32% or 13.55 points to end at 421.25 and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NSE:ZEE) was up 3.30% or 11.75 points to 367.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NSE:TCS), which fell 1.62% or 41.95 points to trade at 2550.95 at the close. GAIL Ltd (NSE:GAIL) declined 1.25% or 4.95 points to end at 392.20 and Tech Mahindra Limited (NSE:TEML) was down 1.15% or 5.55 points to 477.80.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Coal India Limited (BO:COAL) which rose 3.11% to 421.05, TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which was up 3.04% to settle at 304.70 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which gained 2.89% to close at 874.20.
The worst performers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was down 1.59% to 2552.20 in late trade, Wipro Ltd. (BO:WIPR) which lost 1.41% to settle at 544.15 and Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which was down 1.28% to 392.05 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1005 to 434 and 8 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 532 rose and 211 declined, while 3 ended unchanged.

The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of S&P CNX Nifty options, was down 2.14% to 16.9275.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.50% or 5.90 to $1173.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.69% or 0.40 to hit $58.73 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.23% or 0.77 to trade at $62.77 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.03% to 63.691, while EUR/INR fell 0.45% to 71.2760.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.27% at 95.34.
