Investing.com – Greece stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Banking, Financials and Basic Resources sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite declined 4.31%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Select Textile (AT:EPIr), which rose 8.47% or 0.016 points to trade at 0.205 at the close. Meanwhile, Creta Plastics (AT:PLAKR) added 2.14% or 0.080 points to end at 3.810 and ThesKi Port (AT:OLTr) was up 1.58% or 0.34 points to 21.84 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr), which fell 13.58% or 0.036 points to trade at 0.229 at the close. Marfin Invest (AT:MRFr) declined 11.27% or 0.023 points to end at 0.181 and Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) was down 10.53% or 0.100 points to 0.850.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 88 to 18 and 8 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.28% or 3.55 to $1276.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.76% or 0.89 to hit $49.67 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.91% or 0.99 to trade at $50.96 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.19% to 1.1296, while EUR/GBP rose 0.55% to 0.7873.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.21% at 94.30.
