Investing.com – Greece stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking, Travel and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite declined 1.08%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Frigoglass (AT:FRIr), which rose 13.00% or 0.04 points to trade at 0.34 at the close. Meanwhile, Euroconsultants SA (AT:ERCr) added 4.49% or 0.0700 points to end at 1.6300 and ThesKi Water (AT:TWSr) was up 4.28% or 0.13 points to 3.17 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Halcor (AT:XAKO), which fell 5.74% or 0.014 points to trade at 0.230 at the close. Marfin Invest (AT:MRFr) declined 4.59% or 0.005 points to end at 0.104 and National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) was down 4.17% or 0.01 points to 0.23.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 52 to 32 and 13 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.52% or 6.40 to $1223.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 4.43% or 1.59 to hit $37.48 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 3.80% or 1.44 to trade at $39.31 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.05% to 1.1378, while EUR/GBP rose 0.36% to 0.8068.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 94.67.
