Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Household and Basic Resources sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 4.20%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Select Textile (AT:EPIr), which rose 12.95% or 0.018 points to trade at 0.157 at the close. Meanwhile, Alpha Bank SA (AT:ACBr) added 10.86% or 0.215 points to end at 2.195 and National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) was up 8.33% or 0.02 points to 0.26 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kleeman Hellas (AT:KLEr), which fell 6.36% or 0.110 points to trade at 1.620 at the close. ThesKi Port (AT:OLTr) declined 5.28% or 1.11 points to end at 19.90 and Athens Medical (AT:AMCr) was down 5.14% or 0.038 points to 0.702.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 73 to 27 and 9 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was down 1.46% or 18.85 to $1273.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.10% or 0.55 to hit $49.41 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.18% or 0.60 to trade at $50.05 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.37% to 1.1273, while EUR/GBP fell 0.30% to 0.7677.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.29% at 93.95.
