Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Construction and Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 3.17%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Quest Holdings (AT:IQTr), which rose 11.11% or 0.600 points to trade at 6.000 at the close. Meanwhile, Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) added 10.56% or 0.019 points to end at 0.199 and Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) was up 10.47% or 0.067 points to 0.707 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ThesKi Water (AT:TWSr), which fell 2.86% or 0.100 points to trade at 3.400 at the close. Revoil Petrol (AT:REVr) declined 2.78% or 0.010 points to end at 0.350 and Intralot (AT:INLr) was down 1.82% or 0.020 points to 1.080.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 74 to 30 and 9 ended unchanged.
Shares in Quest Holdings (AT:IQTr) rose to 52-week highs; up 11.11% or 0.600 to 6.000.
Gold for February delivery was down 1.33% or 15.85 to $1174.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 7.98% or 3.61 to hit $48.84 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 8.41% or 3.98 to trade at $51.30 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.65% to 1.0581, while EUR/GBP fell 0.60% to 0.8474.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.69% at 101.68.
