Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Food and Travel sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 1.33% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Select Textile (AT:EPIr), which rose 12.60% or 0.016 points to trade at 0.143 at the close. Meanwhile, Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) added 7.22% or 0.019 points to end at 0.282 and Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) was up 5.42% or 0.051 points to 0.992 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr), which fell 10.00% or 0.0270 points to trade at 0.2430 at the close. Reds (AT:CAMr) declined 8.33% or 0.030 points to end at 0.330 and Flexopack SA (AT:FLXr) was down 1.92% or 0.0500 points to 2.5500.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 61 to 40 and 12 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.34% or 4.25 to $1243.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.54% or 0.27 to hit $49.96 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.77% or 0.39 to trade at $50.94 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.01% to 1.1354, while EUR/GBP fell 0.88% to 0.7794.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.16% at 93.88.
