Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Software, Media and Technology sectors led shares higher while losses in the Insurance, Financial Services and Basic Resources sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.14%, while the MDAX index lost 0.43%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.17%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 1.78% or 0.230 points to trade at 13.180 at the close. Meanwhile, Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) added 1.31% or 0.770 points to end at 59.450 and SAP AG O.N. (DE:SAPG) was up 1.25% or 0.950 points to 76.670 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which fell 5.95% or 0.660 points to trade at 10.435 at the close. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) declined 2.11% or 2.600 points to end at 120.850 and Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) was down 1.73% or 1.300 points to 73.940.
The top performers on the MDAX were Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which rose 3.41% to 30.920, Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which was up 2.93% to settle at 27.190 and CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which gained 1.27% to close at 30.405.
The worst performers were Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which was down 8.07% to 91.700 in late trade, Alstria Office Reit-Ag (DE:AOXG) which lost 2.97% to settle at 12.270 and Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which was down 2.11% to 40.680 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which rose 7.47% to 36.110, RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was up 3.23% to settle at 9.600 and STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which gained 2.89% to close at 53.000.
The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was down 3.15% to 32.635 in late trade, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which lost 2.41% to settle at 7.535 and Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which was down 1.62% to 7.183 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 428 to 422 and 23 ended unchanged.
Shares in SAP AG O.N. (DE:SAPG) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.25% or 0.950 to 76.670.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.88% to 17.93 a new 6-months low.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.72% or 9.45 to $1328.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.77% or 0.81 to hit $44.94 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.53% or 0.72 to trade at $46.45 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.04% to 1.1010, while EUR/GBP fell 0.13% to 0.8327.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 97.04.
