Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financial Services, Media and Consumer & Cyclical sectors led shares higher while losses in the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Software and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.34%, while the MDAX index gained 0.14%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.45%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 2.27% or 0.365 points to trade at 16.440 at the close. Meanwhile, Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) added 1.62% or 0.132 points to end at 8.301 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was up 1.58% or 1.950 points to 125.050 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which fell 2.45% or 0.510 points to trade at 20.320 at the close. Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) declined 1.84% or 2.450 points to end at 130.550 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) was down 1.25% or 0.820 points to 64.890.
The top performers on the MDAX were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which rose 1.91% to 5.35, LEG Immobilien AG (DE:LEGn) which was up 1.76% to settle at 81.350 and Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) which gained 1.51% to close at 45.830.
The worst performers were Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which was down 4.87% to 88.300 in late trade, Gerresheimer AG (DE:GXId) which lost 1.95% to settle at 66.920 and Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was down 1.66% to 44.300 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which rose 9.54% to 4.500, Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was up 4.02% to settle at 25.90 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which gained 2.64% to close at 17.500.
The worst performers were Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which was down 5.31% to 8.925 in late trade, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which lost 3.82% to settle at 9.296 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was down 3.19% to 226.000 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 451 to 422 and 35 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.85% to 19.67.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.25% or 3.15 to $1243.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.14% or 1.34 to hit $43.98 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.91% or 1.29 to trade at $45.61 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.35% to 1.1307, while EUR/GBP fell 0.48% to 0.7743.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.35% at 94.41.
