Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Retail, Media and Food & Beverage sectors led shares higher while losses in the Utilities, Chemicals and Software sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.28%, while the MDAX index added 0.09%, and the TecDAX index added 0.01%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN), which rose 1.47% or 0.450 points to trade at 30.960 at the close. Meanwhile, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn) added 0.86% or 0.095 points to end at 11.195 and Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (XETRA:DB1Gn) was up 0.84% or 0.640 points to 76.760 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Daimler AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DAIGn), which fell 2.72% or 2.450 points to trade at 87.700 at the close. Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG) declined 2.57% or 0.335 points to end at 12.715 and E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) was down 1.36% or 0.190 points to 13.745.
The top performers on the MDAX were Metro AG ST O.N. (XETRA:MEOG) which rose 2.20% to 32.800, Kloeckner & Co SE NA (XETRA:KCOGn) which was up 2.03% to settle at 9.382 and A.Springer AG VNA (XETRA:SPRGn) which gained 1.78% to close at 56.130.
The worst performers were Osram Licht (XETRA:OSRn) which was down 2.97% to 45.961 in late trade, Deutsche Annington Immobilien SE (XETRA:ANNGn) which lost 1.19% to settle at 31.27 and Gagfah SA Nom. (XETRA:GFJG) which was down 1.13% to 19.775 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (XETRA:PV) which rose 4.38% to 81.680, Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which was up 3.56% to settle at 47.335 and Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which gained 2.92% to close at 7.057.
The worst performers were Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which was down 5.27% to 118.600 in late trade, Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which lost 1.84% to settle at 159.800 and BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) which was down 1.73% to 266.400 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 364 to 364 and 34 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.63.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.70% or 8.50 to $1199.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.20% or 0.60 to hit $49.49 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 2.78% or 1.58 to trade at $55.52 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.07% to 1.0878, while EUR/GBP rose 0.92% to 0.7328.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.76% at 97.77.
