Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Telecoms and Chemicals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 3.56%, while the MDAX index declined 2.67%, and the TecDAX index declined 2.84%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Adidas AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ADSGN), which fell 1.52% or 1.070 points to trade at 69.370 at the close. Meanwhile, Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG) fell 1.80% or 0.440 points to end at 24.025 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG) was down 1.86% or 0.220 points to 11.615 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn), which fell 5.81% or 1.675 points to trade at 27.155 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG) declined 4.77% or 0.580 points to end at 11.580 and Daimler AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DAIGn) was down 4.39% or 3.800 points to 82.810.
The top performers on the MDAX were Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (XETRA:GWIG) which rose 0.49% to 20.400, Sky Deutschland AG NA (XETRA:SKYDn) which was down 0.03% to settle at 6.750 and DMG Mori Seiki AG (XETRA:GILG) which lost 0.23% to close at 32.445.
The worst performers were Tui AG NA (XETRA:TUIGn) which was down 7.25% to 14.590 in late trade, Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which lost 4.28% to settle at 84.440 and Aareal Bank AG (XETRA:ARLG) which was down 4.23% to 35.215 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (XETRA:AFXG) which fell 0.47% to 22.345, Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which was down 0.75% to settle at 4.081 and Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which lost 1.00% to close at 49.745.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was down 5.95% to 20.390 in late trade, QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which lost 4.93% to settle at 1.850 and Morphosys AG O.N. (XETRA:MORG) which was down 4.55% to 64.870 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 658 to 101 and 26 ended unchanged.
Shares in Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) fell to 52-week lows; losing 0.75% or 0.031 to 4.081.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 17.60% to 27.06 a new 3-years high.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.33% or 3.90 to $1177.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.91% or 1.14 to hit $58.49 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 2.02% or 1.27 to trade at $61.98 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.21% to 1.1188, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.7090.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.32% at 95.30.
