Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 3.06%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Utilities, Transportation & Logistics and Chemicals sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 3.06%, while the MDAX index lost 1.20%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.55%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Adidas AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ADSGN), which rose 1.21% or 0.840 points to trade at 70.170 at the close. Meanwhile, Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (XETRA:FREG) added 1.13% or 0.720 points to end at 64.260 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG) was down 1.05% or 0.125 points to 11.745 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which fell 8.06% or 0.955 points to trade at 10.890 at the close. E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) declined 5.04% or 0.410 points to end at 7.719 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn) was down 4.44% or 1.170 points to 25.190.

The top performers on the MDAX were LEG Immobilien AG (XETRA:LEGn) which rose 2.73% to 70.270, Vonovia SE (XETRA:VNAn) which was up 1.60% to settle at 29.82 and Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (XETRA:DWNG) which gained 1.31% to close at 24.050.

The worst performers were Aareal Bank AG (XETRA:ARLG) which was down 4.38% to 32.075 in late trade, Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ZILGn) which lost 4.27% to settle at 20.975 and Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which was down 4.10% to 25.275 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which rose 2.49% to 11.935, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (XETRA:COPMa) which was up 2.03% to settle at 29.900 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which gained 1.18% to close at 206.000.

The worst performers were Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which was down 9.97% to 2.952 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which lost 2.40% to settle at 31.325 and Dialog Semiconductor (XETRA:DLGS) which was down 2.05% to 45.325 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 529 to 157 and 36 ended unchanged.

Shares in Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) rose to all time highs; up 1.18% or 2.400 to 206.000.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.57% to 24.64.

Gold for December delivery was up 1.82% or 20.30 to $1137.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.45% or 1.62 to hit $45.28 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.13% or 1.04 to trade at $48.03 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.53% to 1.1374, while EUR/GBP fell 0.50% to 0.7298.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.22% at 94.83.
