Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Insurance, Telecoms and Technology sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 1.71%, while the MDAX index lost 1.35%, and the TecDAX index lost 1.03%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 0.70% or 0.075 points to trade at 10.850 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (DE:DB1Gn) added 0.41% or 0.300 points to end at 73.920 and Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN) was down 0.68% or 0.700 points to 102.450 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which fell 3.76% or 0.610 points to trade at 15.615 at the close. Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) declined 3.24% or 1.375 points to end at 41.100 and Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) was down 2.41% or 1.960 points to 79.520.

The top performers on the MDAX were Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (DE:WING) which rose 19.84% to 52.670, Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which was up 0.76% to settle at 68.640 and Talanx AG NA O.N. (DE:TLXGn) which gained 0.50% to close at 29.000.

The worst performers were Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which was down 4.14% to 28.040 in late trade, Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (DE:GWIG) which lost 4.06% to settle at 12.875 and Duerr AG O.N. (DE:DUEG) which was down 3.51% to 67.110 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which rose 1.83% to 102.800, Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which was up 1.35% to settle at 32.540 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which gained 1.03% to close at 37.585.

The worst performers were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which was down 7.99% to 3.810 in late trade, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which lost 3.54% to settle at 32.520 and Drillisch AG O.N. (DE:DRIG) which was down 3.31% to 38.950 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 626 to 216 and 26 ended unchanged.

Shares in Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (DE:WING) rose to 52-week highs; up 19.84% or 8.720 to 52.670. Shares in CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) rose to all time highs; up 1.03% or 0.385 to 37.585.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 8.98% to 21.97.

Gold for April delivery was down 0.28% or 3.40 to $1220.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.48% or 0.59 to hit $39.20 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.84% or 0.34 to trade at $40.13 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.10% to 1.1170, while EUR/GBP fell 0.43% to 0.7888.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 96.18.
