Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Resources, Insurance and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 1.18% to hit a new 3-months low, while the MDAX index fell 1.12%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.47%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn), which rose 3.57% or 0.985 points to trade at 28.600 at the close. Meanwhile, Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG) fell 0.11% or 0.055 points to end at 49.250 and Adidas AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ADSGN) was down 0.13% or 0.090 points to 70.060 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (XETRA:BMWG), which fell 2.23% or 2.220 points to trade at 97.370 at the close. Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG) declined 2.20% or 4.550 points to end at 201.800 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG) was down 1.92% or 0.460 points to 23.505.
The top performers on the MDAX were Tui AG NA (XETRA:TUIGn) which rose 0.69% to 16.105, Osram Licht (XETRA:OSRn) which was up 0.35% to settle at 45.830 and Rhoen-Klinikum O.N. (XETRA:RHKG) which gained 0.26% to close at 25.130.
The worst performers were Aurubis AG (XETRA:NAFG) which was down 3.74% to 54.570 in late trade, Bilfinger SE O.N. (XETRA:GBFG) which lost 3.65% to settle at 37.005 and Gagfah SA Nom. (XETRA:GFJG) which was down 3.30% to 12.910 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which rose 2.35% to 46.895, BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) which was up 1.94% to settle at 277.800 and Dialog Semiconductor (XETRA:DLGS) which gained 1.83% to close at 51.170.
The worst performers were Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which was down 3.69% to 155.150 in late trade, QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which lost 2.83% to settle at 2.058 and Bechtle AG O.N. (XETRA:BC8G) which was down 2.56% to 66.660 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 583 to 167 and 33 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bilfinger SE O.N. (XETRA:GBFG) fell to 5-year lows; down 3.65% or 1.400 to 37.005.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.68% to 23.65.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.32% or 3.70 to $1171.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.62% or 0.96 to hit $58.17 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.07% or 0.68 to trade at $62.63 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.08% to 1.1234, while EUR/GBP rose 0.98% to 0.7348.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.74% at 95.66.
