Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Chemicals, Basic Resources and Insurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 1.13%, while the MDAX index declined 0.88%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.56%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 6.77% or 0.775 points to trade at 12.220 at the close. Meanwhile, E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) added 1.48% or 0.119 points to end at 8.141 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) was up 1.19% or 0.505 points to 43.100 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN), which fell 4.85% or 4.850 points to trade at 95.150 at the close. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) declined 2.21% or 0.420 points to end at 18.610 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was down 2.19% or 2.850 points to 127.500.
The top performers on the MDAX were Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which rose 4.13% to 47.115, Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which was up 2.22% to settle at 9.07 and CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which gained 1.45% to close at 30.420.
The worst performers were Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which was down 10.22% to 28.080 in late trade, Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which lost 8.45% to settle at 60.650 and K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which was down 6.30% to 21.105 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Drillisch AG O.N. (DE:DRIG) which rose 3.64% to 37.700, Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which was up 2.46% to settle at 41.515 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which gained 1.92% to close at 32.140.
The worst performers were Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which was down 6.83% to 7.286 in late trade, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which lost 6.12% to settle at 25.220 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 4.50% to 15.805 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 550 to 326 and 30 ended unchanged.
Shares in Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) rose to all time highs; up 1.92% or 0.605 to 32.140.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 4.10% to 22.61.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.36% or 4.65 to $1270.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.56% or 0.26 to hit $45.97 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.05% or 0.50 to trade at $47.10 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.42% to 1.1378, while EUR/GBP fell 0.46% to 0.7873.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.31% at 94.09.
