Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Food & Beverages, Media and Chemicals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 1.09%, while the MDAX index lost 0.51%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.97%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn), which rose 0.70% or 0.21 points to trade at 30.98 at the close. Meanwhile, E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) added 0.23% or 0.014 points to end at 6.148 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) was down 0.09% or 0.060 points to 67.060 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which fell 3.09% or 0.204 points to trade at 6.395 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) declined 2.49% or 0.370 points to end at 14.480 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) was down 2.18% or 0.275 points to 12.345.
The top performers on the MDAX were Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (DE:DWNG) which rose 1.41% to 29.220, Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was up 1.21% to settle at 4.58 and LEG Immobilien AG (DE:LEGn) which gained 0.91% to close at 72.400.
The worst performers were Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was down 4.36% to 36.345 in late trade, Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which lost 2.48% to settle at 35.22 and Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which was down 2.22% to 58.600 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which rose 3.18% to 44.005, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was up 1.34% to settle at 6.140 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which gained 0.26% to close at 36.895.
The worst performers were RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was down 3.84% to 13.540 in late trade, Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which lost 2.06% to settle at 52.850 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was down 1.87% to 42.920 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 591 to 293 and 28 ended unchanged.
Shares in Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) fell to 52-week lows; falling 4.36% or 1.655 to 36.345.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 10.12% to 20.92.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.94% or 11.10 to $1189.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 2.63% or 1.21 to hit $47.27 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.36% or 1.14 to trade at $49.38 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.0577, while EUR/GBP rose 0.41% to 0.8525.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 101.48.
