Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 0.69%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Food & Beverages, Utilities and Construction sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.69%, while the MDAX index lost 0.78%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.67%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn), which rose 1.32% or 0.205 points to trade at 15.750 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (XETRA:DB1Gn) added 1.02% or 0.750 points to end at 74.480 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn) was up 0.23% or 0.065 points to 28.105 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which fell 2.93% or 0.630 points to trade at 20.845 at the close. E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) declined 2.77% or 0.375 points to end at 13.140 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (XETRA:HEIG) was down 2.41% or 1.790 points to 72.340.

The top performers on the MDAX were Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (XETRA:DWNG) which rose 1.83% to 21.755, Wacker Chemie O.N. (XETRA:WCHG) which was up 1.76% to settle at 101.450 and Deutsche Euroshop AG O.N. (XETRA:DEQGn) which gained 0.82% to close at 43.525.

The worst performers were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which was down 4.45% to 14.805 in late trade, Gagfah SA Nom. (XETRA:GFJG) which lost 2.86% to settle at 13.600 and Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which was down 2.83% to 33.760 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which rose 5.18% to 19.585, Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which was up 2.00% to settle at 6.732 and QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which gained 1.07% to close at 2.170.

The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (XETRA:NDXG) which was down 2.27% to 21.300 in late trade, Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which lost 2.15% to settle at 166.300 and Wirecard AG (XETRA:WDIG) which was down 2.03% to 36.765 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 558 to 176 and 34 ended unchanged.

Shares in RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG) fell to 52-week lows; losing 2.93% or 0.630 to 20.845. Shares in Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) rose to 3-years highs; up 2.00% or 0.132 to 6.732.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.52% to 23.15.

Gold for August delivery was down 0.86% or 10.20 to $1174.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 2.52% or 1.50 to hit $58.14 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 2.56% or 1.64 to trade at $62.16 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.07% to 1.1266, while EUR/GBP fell 0.18% to 0.7336.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 95.39.
