Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Resources, Financial Services and Transportation & Logistics sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.60% to hit a new 3-months low, while the MDAX index fell 1.03%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.84%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Linde AG O.N. (XETRA:LING), which rose 1.89% or 3.200 points to trade at 172.700 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn) added 1.06% or 0.160 points to end at 15.190 and Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG) was up 0.65% or 0.340 points to 52.760 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG), which fell 1.99% or 0.235 points to trade at 11.590 at the close. Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG) declined 1.82% or 3.800 points to end at 205.150 and Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (XETRA:HNKG_p) was down 1.68% or 1.750 points to 102.500.
The top performers on the MDAX were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which rose 3.97% to 15.855, Kloeckner & Co SE NA (XETRA:KCOGn) which was up 2.04% to settle at 7.950 and Gagfah SA Nom. (XETRA:GFJG) which gained 1.40% to close at 12.690.
The worst performers were Deutsche Annington Immobilien SE (XETRA:ANNGn) which was down 6.76% to 24.67 in late trade, Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which lost 3.53% to settle at 80.700 and Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ZILGn) which was down 3.20% to 24.185 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which rose 1.66% to 110.300, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which was up 1.59% to settle at 160.000 and LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which gained 1.20% to close at 8.147.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was down 3.81% to 20.345 in late trade, Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which lost 3.42% to settle at 45.500 and BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) which was down 2.43% to 263.050 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 453 to 279 and 43 ended unchanged.
Shares in Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG) rose to 52-week highs; up 0.65% or 0.340 to 52.760. Shares in Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.97% or 0.605 to 15.855.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.46% to 25.38 a new 52-week high.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.43% or 5.10 to $1175.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.24% or 0.75 to hit $59.70 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.90% or 0.57 to trade at $63.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.04% to 1.1243, while EUR/GBP fell 0.43% to 0.7156.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 95.25.
