Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 0.19%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Insurance and Industrials sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.19%, while the MDAX index lost 0.35%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.68%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING), which rose 3.21% or 4.700 points to trade at 151.200 at the close. Meanwhile, Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) added 1.78% or 0.205 points to end at 11.705 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) was up 1.55% or 1.320 points to 86.220 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG), which fell 3.34% or 2.330 points to trade at 67.480 at the close. Merck KGaA (DE:MRK) declined 2.50% or 2.420 points to end at 94.250 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) was down 2.14% or 0.460 points to 21.000.

The top performers on the MDAX were Fielmann AG (DE:FIEG) which rose 2.44% to 67.510, Osram Licht AG (F:OSRn) which was up 1.48% to settle at 51.674 and Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which gained 1.13% to close at 33.240.

The worst performers were GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which was down 3.49% to 35.930 in late trade, Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which lost 2.18% to settle at 4.76 and STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which was down 1.49% to 45.840 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 8.43% to 31.120, S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was up 2.77% to settle at 9.024 and Aixtron SE (F:AIXC) which gained 1.74% to close at 4.328.

The worst performers were Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was down 5.75% to 29.40 in late trade, STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which lost 4.55% to settle at 52.200 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which was down 3.62% to 40.075 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 473 to 385 and 32 ended unchanged.

Shares in Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) rose to 52-week highs; rising 8.43% or 2.420 to 31.120.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.14% to 18.60.

Gold for December delivery was up 0.15% or 1.95 to $1271.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.97% or 0.48 to hit $49.24 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.89% or 0.45 to trade at $50.02 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.42% to 1.0943, while EUR/GBP rose 0.48% to 0.9002.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.27% at 98.65.
