Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 3.51%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Basic Resources and Transportation & Logistics sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 3.51% to hit a new 1-month high, while the MDAX index gained 3.44%, and the TecDAX index gained 3.31%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which rose 8.47% or 1.365 points to trade at 17.485 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) added 7.44% or 1.270 points to end at 18.340 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) was up 5.68% or 0.805 points to 14.980 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Merck KGAA O.N. (DE:MRCG), which rose 0.55% or 0.420 points to trade at 76.160 at the close. Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (DE:HNKG_p) added 1.57% or 1.460 points to end at 94.560 and Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (DE:DB1Gn) was up 1.82% or 1.350 points to 75.600.

The top performers on the MDAX were Salzgitter AG O.N. (DE:SZGG) which rose 9.01% to 23.600, Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (DE:SZUG) which was up 8.15% to settle at 14.670 and Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which gained 6.35% to close at 43.355.

The worst performers were Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which was up 0.38% to 87.330 in late trade, Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (DE:WING) which gained 0.50% to settle at 46.630 and Celesio AG Nam. O.N. (DE:CLSGn) which was up 0.67% to 25.450 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which rose 7.94% to 34.540, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was up 6.37% to settle at 10.360 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which gained 6.16% to close at 33.165.

The worst performers were PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (DE:PSAGn) which was down 1.01% to 14.205 in late trade, STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which lost 0.80% to settle at 51.090 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was down 0.36% to 27.400 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 684 to 150 and 35 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 9.88% to 22.08.

Gold for April delivery was down 1.01% or 12.90 to $1259.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 2.11% or 0.80 to hit $38.64 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.85% or 0.34 to trade at $40.39 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.05% to 1.1172, while EUR/GBP fell 0.95% to 0.7753.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 96.06.
