Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Technology and Construction sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 2.71%, while the MDAX index climbed 1.84%, and the TecDAX index added 1.92%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 9.91% or 1.385 points to trade at 15.365 at the close. Meanwhile, Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) added 7.03% or 0.545 points to end at 8.299 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) was up 6.07% or 1.175 points to 20.535 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn), which fell 0.25% or 0.08 points to trade at 31.43 at the close. Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 points to end at 187.100 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) was up 0.29% or 0.040 points to 13.995.
The top performers on the MDAX were Salzgitter AG O.N. (DE:SZGG) which rose 6.86% to 27.945, Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was up 6.61% to settle at 43.935 and K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which gained 4.57% to close at 20.260.
The worst performers were Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which was down 2.14% to 37.475 in late trade, Rhoen-Klinikum O.N. (DE:RHKG) which lost 0.25% to settle at 28.090 and CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which was down 0.20% to 30.640 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which rose 6.03% to 239.100, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was up 5.21% to settle at 35.855 and Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which gained 4.38% to close at 4.718.
The worst performers were Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was down 1.67% to 25.57 in late trade, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which lost 1.28% to settle at 37.005 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was down 1.02% to 28.765 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 708 to 187 and 20 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 8.03% to 19.59 a new 3-months low.
Gold for June delivery was down 1.05% or 13.30 to $1247.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.07% or 0.03 to hit $42.14 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.31% or 0.14 to trade at $44.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.89% to 1.1282, while EUR/GBP fell 0.59% to 0.7935.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.77% at 94.74.
