Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Utilities, Chemicals and Media sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 2.65%, while the MDAX index climbed 2.71%, and the TecDAX index climbed 2.95%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN), which rose 4.70% or 1.410 points to trade at 31.380 at the close. Meanwhile, Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (XETRA:BMWG) added 4.68% or 4.900 points to end at 109.500 and Bayer AG NA (XETRA:BAYGN) was up 4.20% or 5.350 points to 132.750 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn), which fell 0.11% or 0.015 points to trade at 13.990 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG) added 0.49% or 0.060 points to end at 12.325 and Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (XETRA:MUVGn) was up 0.72% or 1.250 points to 174.600.

The top performers on the MDAX were Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (XETRA:DWNG) which rose 5.67% to 23.465, Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (XETRA:PSMGn) which was up 5.59% to settle at 47.225 and Tui AG NA (XETRA:TUIGn) which gained 5.34% to close at 17.160.

The worst performers were Talanx AG NA O.N. (XETRA:TLXGn) which was down 3.74% to 26.765 in late trade, Bilfinger SE O.N. (XETRA:GBFG) which lost 2.23% to settle at 41.575 and Kloeckner & Co SE NA (XETRA:KCOGn) which was down 0.67% to 8.361 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (XETRA:MORG) which rose 5.51% to 65.110, Jenoptik AG O.N. (XETRA:JENG) which was up 5.49% to settle at 11.235 and Dialog Semiconductor (XETRA:DLGS) which gained 5.24% to close at 47.710.

The worst performers were PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which was down 1.32% to 11.580 in late trade, Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (XETRA:DRWG_p) which lost 1.17% to settle at 101.500 and Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which was down 0.71% to 6.545 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 627 to 111 and 37 ended unchanged.

Shares in Bilfinger SE O.N. (XETRA:GBFG) fell to 5-year lows; falling 2.23% or 0.950 to 41.575. Shares in Dialog Semiconductor (XETRA:DLGS) rose to all time highs; up 5.24% or 2.375 to 47.710.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 11.95% to 20.56.

Gold for June delivery was up 0.49% or 5.80 to $1188.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.00% or 0.59 to hit $59.53 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.14% or 0.10 to trade at $65.64 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.41% to 1.1220, while EUR/GBP fell 1.64% to 0.7268.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 94.81.
