Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Media and Chemicals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 1.83%, while the MDAX index added 1.14%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.97%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn), which rose 4.09% or 0.443 points to trade at 11.273 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (XETRA:DB1Gn) added 2.70% or 2.030 points to end at 77.120 and Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG) was up 2.88% or 6.225 points to 222.175 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn), which fell 0.23% or 0.033 points to trade at 13.998 at the close. Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG) added 0.29% or 0.037 points to end at 13.088 and Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DPWGn) was up 0.62% or 0.180 points to 29.385.
The top performers on the MDAX were Rhoen-Klinikum O.N. (XETRA:RHKG) which rose 3.59% to 23.578, Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (XETRA:PSMGn) which was up 2.84% to settle at 46.078 and RTL Group SA (XETRA:RRTL) which gained 2.58% to close at 90.570.
The worst performers were Aurubis AG (XETRA:NAFG) which was down 1.51% to 52.920 in late trade, Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (XETRA:WING) which lost 0.85% to settle at 44.290 and Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which was down 0.88% to 27.212 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (XETRA:MORG) which rose 6.10% to 60.000, BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) which was up 5.17% to settle at 291.800 and Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which gained 5.96% to close at 47.072.
The worst performers were LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which was down 1.38% to 10.345 in late trade, Bechtle AG O.N. (XETRA:BC8G) which lost 0.79% to settle at 67.990 and Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which was down 0.87% to 4.342 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 574 to 168 and 29 ended unchanged.
Shares in Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (XETRA:DB1Gn) rose to 5-year highs; rising 2.70% or 2.030 to 77.120. Shares in RTL Group SA (XETRA:RRTL) rose to 52-week highs; rising 2.58% or 2.280 to 90.570.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 19.42.
Gold for June delivery was down 1.30% or 15.60 to $1185.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.82% or 0.40 to hit $48.47 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.50% or 0.84 to trade at $55.56 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.65% to 1.0819, while EUR/GBP rose 0.01% to 0.7314.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.72% at 98.32.
