Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Financial Services and Transportation & Logistics sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.62%, while the MDAX index climbed 1.01%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.16%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which rose 3.10% or 0.650 points to trade at 21.615 at the close. Meanwhile, Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) added 1.94% or 0.200 points to end at 10.505 and Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) was up 1.74% or 1.320 points to 76.990 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG), which fell 0.36% or 0.240 points to trade at 66.280 at the close. Merck KGaA (DE:MRK) declined 0.03% or 0.030 points to end at 96.420 and SAP SE (DE:SAPG) was down 0.03% or 0.020 points to 77.680.
The top performers on the MDAX were Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which rose 6.22% to 29.795, Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which was up 2.92% to settle at 123.200 and GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which gained 2.75% to close at 49.345.
The worst performers were Airbus Group SE (F:AIRG) which was down 1.95% to 49.955 in late trade, Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which lost 1.12% to settle at 101.700 and Metro AG ST O.N. (DE:MEOG) which was down 0.28% to 27.035 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 12.53% to 18.100, Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which was up 3.76% to settle at 6.312 and Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which gained 3.57% to close at 40.590.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 4.25% to 32.010 in late trade, RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which lost 1.25% to settle at 9.578 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which was down 0.65% to 38.150 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 603 to 278 and 22 ended unchanged.
Shares in GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) rose to all time highs; rising 2.75% or 1.320 to 49.345.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 17.92.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.52% or 6.95 to $1355.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.82% or 1.32 to hit $48.11 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.81% or 0.90 to trade at $50.75 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.41% to 1.1336, while EUR/GBP fell 0.42% to 0.8624.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.45% at 94.26.
