Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Utilities, Industrials and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.46% to hit a new 1-month high, while the MDAX index climbed 0.28%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.12%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 5.06% or 0.610 points to trade at 12.655 at the close. Meanwhile, Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) added 2.64% or 0.345 points to end at 13.430 and Merck KGAA O.N. (DE:MRCG) was up 2.28% or 1.980 points to 88.830 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (DE:HNKG_p), which fell 1.50% or 1.500 points to trade at 98.700 at the close. Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (DE:DB1Gn) declined 1.06% or 0.900 points to end at 83.750 and Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN) was down 0.88% or 0.720 points to 81.550.
The top performers on the MDAX were Salzgitter AG O.N. (DE:SZGG) which rose 3.59% to 26.255, Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (DE:ZILGn) which was up 3.56% to settle at 20.365 and Duerr AG O.N. (DE:DUEG) which gained 2.18% to close at 75.770.
The worst performers were Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (DE:GWIG) which was down 5.03% to 14.810 in late trade, Fuchs Petrolub AG VZO O.N. (DE:FPEG_p) which lost 3.08% to settle at 43.615 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) which was down 1.50% to 49.190 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which rose 6.21% to 53.000, Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which was up 5.52% to settle at 39.250 and Software AG O.N. (DE:SOWG) which gained 3.28% to close at 26.435.
The worst performers were Qiagen NV (DE:QGEN) which was down 2.90% to 22.060 in late trade, Kontron AG O.N. (DE:KBCG) which lost 1.90% to settle at 3.100 and United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which was down 1.20% to 47.255 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 342 to 332 and 40 ended unchanged.
Shares in Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 5.52% or 2.055 to 39.250.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.59% to 19.53.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.44% or 5.00 to $1142.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.85% or 0.39 to hit $46.45 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.26% or 0.61 to trade at $49.41 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.40% to 1.1021, while EUR/GBP fell 0.59% to 0.7129.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.51% at 96.87.
