Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Utilities, Food & Beverages and Consumer & Cyclical sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.39%, while the MDAX index added 0.39%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.48%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 6.29% or 0.780 points to trade at 13.175 at the close. Meanwhile, Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN) added 5.95% or 6.400 points to end at 114.000 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was up 3.52% or 4.400 points to 129.450 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn), which fell 3.76% or 6.800 points to trade at 174.000 at the close. Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) declined 2.58% or 2.800 points to end at 105.650 and Allianz SE VNA O.N. (DE:ALVG) was down 0.78% or 1.200 points to 151.700.
The top performers on the MDAX were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (DE:SZUG) which rose 2.88% to 15.540, Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which was up 2.69% to settle at 31.520 and Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which gained 2.55% to close at 29.17.
The worst performers were Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which was down 2.42% to 49.70 in late trade, Hannover Rueckversicherung SE (DE:HNRGn) which lost 1.89% to settle at 101.200 and Metro AG ST O.N. (DE:MEOG) which was down 1.65% to 28.550 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which rose 7.25% to 37.630, Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which was up 5.23% to settle at 169.100 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which gained 5.18% to close at 44.650.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which was down 2.16% to 4.403 in late trade, Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which lost 0.69% to settle at 96.380 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was down 0.55% to 8.850 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 527 to 358 and 36 ended unchanged.
Shares in Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN) rose to all time highs; up 5.95% or 6.400 to 114.000.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 19.67.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.66% or 8.20 to $1251.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.79% or 0.35 to hit $44.39 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.01% or 0.46 to trade at $46.04 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.22% to 1.1322, while EUR/GBP rose 0.43% to 0.7782.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 94.38.
