Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Transportation & Logistics, Chemicals and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.20%, while the MDAX index added 0.61%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.48%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN), which rose 1.49% or 2.050 points to trade at 139.500 at the close. Meanwhile, Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) added 1.46% or 2.200 points to end at 152.600 and Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) was up 1.15% or 1.040 points to 91.850 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which fell 2.39% or 0.150 points to trade at 6.130 at the close. Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) declined 2.32% or 0.775 points to end at 32.625 and RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) was down 1.84% or 0.225 points to 12.005.
The top performers on the MDAX were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which rose 4.46% to 4.66, Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which was up 2.04% to settle at 58.000 and Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which gained 2.02% to close at 74.310.
The worst performers were CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which was down 5.21% to 29.320 in late trade, Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which lost 2.76% to settle at 28.870 and Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was down 1.25% to 38.175 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which rose 4.52% to 5.967, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was up 2.54% to settle at 3.548 and Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which gained 1.69% to close at 15.935.
The worst performers were STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which was down 2.02% to 44.480 in late trade, RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which lost 1.77% to settle at 13.310 and S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was down 1.38% to 9.180 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 504 to 369 and 30 ended unchanged.
Shares in Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) fell to 52-week lows; losing 2.32% or 0.775 to 32.625. Shares in Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 4.52% or 0.258 to 5.967.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.57% to 18.78.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.17% or 2.05 to $1225.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.70% or 0.32 to hit $45.89 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.66% or 0.31 to trade at $46.94 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.34% to 1.0655, while EUR/GBP fell 0.47% to 0.8551.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.26% at 100.64.
