Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.14%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Basic Resources and Utilities sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.14%, while the MDAX index added 0.01%, and the TecDAX index added 0.66%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG), which rose 6.44% or 4.260 points to trade at 70.430 at the close. Meanwhile, Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) added 1.78% or 1.680 points to end at 95.920 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) was up 0.90% or 0.720 points to 80.790 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which fell 2.64% or 0.350 points to trade at 12.900 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) declined 2.02% or 0.130 points to end at 6.318 and Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) was down 1.70% or 2.650 points to 153.050.

The top performers on the MDAX were Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which rose 3.68% to 27.595, Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was up 3.19% to settle at 50.160 and STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which gained 2.25% to close at 49.630.

The worst performers were Metro AG ST O.N. (DE:MEOG) which was down 4.66% to 26.600 in late trade, Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which lost 2.27% to settle at 92.600 and K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which was down 1.62% to 18.565 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which rose 40.85% to 39.16, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was up 4.71% to settle at 32.255 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which gained 4.57% to close at 20.500.

The worst performers were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was down 1.40% to 3.599 in late trade, Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which lost 1.35% to settle at 54.100 and Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 0.76% to 25.355 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 457 to 427 and 30 ended unchanged.

Shares in Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 6.44% or 4.260 to 70.430. Shares in Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) rose to all time highs; rising 40.85% or 11.36 to 39.16.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.08% to 17.93.

Gold for December delivery was up 1.46% or 19.35 to $1346.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.11% or 0.05 to hit $44.39 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.57% or 0.75 to trade at $46.88 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.82% to 1.1239, while EUR/GBP fell 0.17% to 0.8366.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.85% at 94.93.
