Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Telecoms and Media sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.02%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.30%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.41%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN), which rose 1.52% or 0.435 points to trade at 29.050 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn) added 1.35% or 0.380 points to end at 28.465 and Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG) was up 1.25% or 2.700 points to 218.750 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which fell 1.85% or 0.375 points to trade at 19.935 at the close. E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) declined 1.31% or 0.165 points to end at 12.460 and Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (XETRA:HNKG_p) was down 1.23% or 1.300 points to 104.100.
The top performers on the MDAX were RTL Group SA (XETRA:RRTL) which rose 2.37% to 84.800, Deutsche Annington Immobilien SE (XETRA:ANNGn) which was up 2.30% to settle at 26.21 and Rhoen-Klinikum O.N. (XETRA:RHKG) which gained 2.09% to close at 24.635.
The worst performers were LEG Immobilien AG (XETRA:LEGn) which was down 2.70% to 62.760 in late trade, Tui AG NA (XETRA:TUIGn) which lost 1.69% to settle at 16.000 and Metro AG ST O.N. (XETRA:MEOG) which was down 1.35% to 29.615 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which rose 5.10% to 7.930, Cancom SE O.N. (XETRA:COKG) which was up 2.77% to settle at 32.260 and Drillisch AG O.N. (XETRA:DRIG) which gained 2.69% to close at 43.320.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which was down 2.00% to 6.321 in late trade, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (XETRA:COPMa) which lost 1.79% to settle at 32.015 and LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which was down 1.71% to 8.050 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 406 to 332 and 43 ended unchanged.
Shares in Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 5.10% or 0.385 to 7.930.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 9.45% to 23.01.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.02% or 0.20 to $1172.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.83% or 0.50 to hit $59.77 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.61% or 0.39 to trade at $63.10 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.05% to 1.1197, while EUR/GBP fell 0.18% to 0.7120.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 95.44.
