Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Banking, Financials and Gas & Water sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 2.01% to hit a new 3-months low, while the SBF 120 index fell 1.86%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Alstom (PARIS:ALSO), which rose 0.23% or 0.06 points to trade at 25.64 at the close. Meanwhile, Pernod Ricard (PARIS:PERP) added 0.05% or 0.05 points to end at 103.25 and Cap Gemini (PARIS:CAPP) was down 0.37% or 0.30 points to 80.42 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were BNP Paribas Act. A (PARIS:BNPP), which fell 4.24% or 2.30 points to trade at 51.97 at the close. Societe Generale (PARIS:SOGN) declined 3.78% or 1.58 points to end at 40.40 and AXA SA (PARIS:AXAF) was down 3.26% or 0.73 points to 21.81.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Adocia (PARIS:ADOC) which rose 5.95% to 69.290, Innate Pharma (PARIS:IPH) which was up 2.83% to settle at 13.430 and Sopra Steria Group SA (PARIS:SOPR) which gained 1.82% to close at 80.66.
The worst performers were CGG (PARIS:GEPH) which was down 4.76% to 4.68 in late trade, BNP Paribas Act. A (PARIS:BNPP) which lost 4.24% to settle at 51.97 and Natixis (PARIS:CNAT) which was down 3.90% to 6.132 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 624 to 173 and 64 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 8.03% to 29.25.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.09% or 1.00 to $1166.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.85% or 1.58 to hit $53.94 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 3.56% or 2.15 to trade at $58.17 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.27% to 1.1080, while EUR/GBP fell 0.65% to 0.7094.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 96.26.
