Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Technology Hardware & Equipment and Pharmaceuticals & Biotech sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 1.75% to hit a new 3-months low, while the SBF 120 index lost 1.75%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Alstom (PARIS:ALSO), which fell 0.25% or 0.07 points to trade at 26.34 at the close. Meanwhile, Schneider Electric (PARIS:SCHN) fell 0.28% or 0.18 points to end at 63.59 and Vivendi (PARIS:VIV) was down 0.38% or 0.09 points to 23.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Peugeot SA (PARIS:PEUP), which fell 4.01% or 0.75 points to trade at 17.96 at the close. Valeo (PARIS:VLOF) declined 3.84% or 5.70 points to end at 142.90 and Accor (PARIS:ACCP) was down 3.33% or 1.61 points to 46.85.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Elior (PARIS:ELIOR) which rose 0.92% to 18.16, Nexity (PARIS:NEXI) which was down 0.07% to settle at 35.77 and SES (PARIS:SESFd) which lost 0.16% to close at 31.11.
The worst performers were Genfit (PARIS:GNFT) which was down 5.91% to 33.600 in late trade, Faurecia (PARIS:EPED) which lost 4.67% to settle at 37.65 and Innate Pharma (PARIS:IPH) which was down 4.35% to 14.080 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 792 to 120 and 53 ended unchanged.
Shares in Elior (PARIS:ELIOR) rose to all time highs; rising 0.92% or 0.17 to 18.16.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 9.36% to 27.23 a new 3-months high.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.73% or 8.60 to $1187.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.66% or 0.40 to hit $60.00 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.89% or 0.57 to trade at $64.06 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.13% to 1.1276, while EUR/GBP rose 0.04% to 0.7241.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 95.17.
