Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Banking, Oil & Gas and Oil & Gas Producers sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 1.69% to hit a new 52-week low, while the SBF 120 index lost 1.61%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP), which rose 1.13% or 0.58 points to trade at 52.04 at the close. Meanwhile, Air Liquide SA (PA:AIRP) added 0.81% or 0.75 points to end at 93.15 and Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) was up 0.21% or 0.04 points to 16.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which fell 10.79% or 0.35 points to trade at 2.88 at the close. Technip (PA:TECF) declined 5.04% or 2.15 points to end at 40.52 and Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN) was down 4.71% or 1.53 points to 30.95.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Genfit (PA:GNFT) which rose 9.06% to 26.615, Ingenico Group (PA:INGC) which was up 2.45% to settle at 97.74 and Altran Technologies (PA:ALTT) which gained 1.87% to close at 10.180.
The worst performers were CGG (PA:GEPH) which was down 17.54% to 0.47 in late trade, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which lost 12.41% to settle at 3.46 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) which was down 10.79% to 2.88 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 593 to 131 and 61 ended unchanged.

Shares in CGG (PA:GEPH) fell to all time lows; falling 17.54% or 0.10 to 0.47. Shares in Vallourec (PA:VLLP) fell to 5-year lows; down 12.41% or 0.49 to 3.46. Shares in ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) fell to 5-year lows; falling 10.79% or 0.35 to 2.88.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 2.56% to 33.52.
Gold for April delivery was down 0.08% or 0.90 to $1197.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 2.81% or 0.83 to hit $28.86 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 4.71% or 1.55 to trade at $31.33 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.23% to 1.1331, while EUR/GBP rose 0.77% to 0.7816.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.07% at 95.72.
