Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Automobiles & Parts and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 1.02% to hit a new 3-months low, while the SBF 120 index declined 1.01%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Total SA (PARIS:TOTF), which rose 1.10% or 0.48 points to trade at 44.39 at the close. Meanwhile, Vivendi (PARIS:VIV) added 0.59% or 0.14 points to end at 23.73 and EDF (PARIS:EDF) was up 0.56% or 0.12 points to 20.48 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Valeo (PARIS:VLOF), which fell 5.40% or 7.90 points to trade at 138.40 at the close. Peugeot SA (PARIS:PEUP) declined 2.72% or 0.49 points to end at 17.52 and Carrefour (PARIS:CARR) was down 2.64% or 0.77 points to 28.43.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Solocal Group (PARIS:LOCAL) which rose 13.19% to 0.429, Remy Cointreau (PARIS:RCOP) which was up 3.04% to settle at 66.05 and Soitec (PARIS:SOIT) which gained 2.86% to close at 0.720.
The worst performers were Faurecia (PARIS:EPED) which was down 6.27% to 36.23 in late trade, Valeo (PARIS:VLOF) which lost 5.40% to settle at 138.40 and Genfit (PARIS:GNFT) which was down 4.22% to 33.035 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 558 to 351 and 44 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 1.86% to 27.06.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.42% or 5.00 to $1175.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.03% or 0.62 to hit $59.83 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.90% or 0.57 to trade at $63.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.10% to 1.1258, while EUR/GBP fell 0.39% to 0.7159.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 95.16.
