Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Utilities, Oil & Gas and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.52%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.36%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Sodexo (PA:EXHO), which rose 2.97% or 2.90 points to trade at 100.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) added 1.98% or 1.00 points to end at 51.43 and L’Oreal SA (PA:OREP) was up 1.17% or 1.85 points to 159.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Vivendi SA (PA:VIV), which fell 3.93% or 0.75 points to trade at 18.36 at the close. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) declined 2.22% or 0.26 points to end at 11.26 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) was down 1.90% or 0.127 points to 6.572.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which rose 4.07% to 33.000, GTT (PA:GTT) which was up 3.50% to settle at 32.26 and Gemalto (AS:GTO) which gained 3.01% to close at 48.69.
The worst performers were CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which was down 7.02% to 13.1200 in late trade, Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) which lost 3.93% to settle at 18.36 and Eutelsat Communications (PA:ETL) which was down 2.75% to 16.28 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 329 to 327 and 115 ended unchanged.
Shares in Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) fell to all time lows; losing 2.22% or 0.26 to 11.26. Shares in CGG SA (PA:GEPH) fell to 52-week lows; losing 7.02% or 0.9900 to 13.1200.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 2.38% to 19.29.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.68% or 8.25 to $1208.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.29% or 0.13 to hit $45.55 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.30% or 0.14 to trade at $46.63 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.27% to 1.0595, while EUR/GBP rose 0.41% to 0.8592.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.32% at 101.32.
