Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Financials and Consumer Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.01%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.03%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 1.84% or 0.130 points to trade at 7.197 at the close. Meanwhile, Technip (PA:TECF) added 0.78% or 0.53 points to end at 68.73 and Total SA (PA:TOTF) was up 0.71% or 0.34 points to 48.72 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Accor SA (PA:ACCP), which fell 1.53% or 0.55 points to trade at 35.40 at the close. Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) declined 1.21% or 2.70 points to end at 220.20 and Nokia Oyj (PA:NOKIA) was down 1.20% or 0.056 points to 4.621.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which rose 3.17% to 6.580, GTT (PA:GTT) which was up 1.88% to settle at 40.62 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) which gained 1.84% to close at 7.197.
The worst performers were Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which was down 1.55% to 5.277 in late trade, Accor SA (PA:ACCP) which lost 1.53% to settle at 35.40 and Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) which was down 1.21% to 220.20 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 334 to 244 and 99 ended unchanged.
Shares in Technip (PA:TECF) rose to 52-week highs; rising 0.78% or 0.53 to 68.73. Shares in Total SA (PA:TOTF) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 0.71% or 0.34 to 48.72. Shares in Vallourec (PA:VLLP) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.17% or 0.202 to 6.580. Shares in GTT (PA:GTT) rose to 52-week highs; rising 1.88% or 0.75 to 40.62.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 2.59% to 16.70.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.04% or 0.45 to $1139.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.48% or 0.26 to hit $54.16 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.39% or 0.22 to trade at $57.05 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.72% to 1.0380, while EUR/GBP fell 0.36% to 0.8496.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.50% at 103.51.
