Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Construction & Materials, Media and Pharmaceuticals & Biotech sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 3.81%, while the SBF 120 index gained 3.63%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Bouygues (PARIS:BOUY), which rose 13.24% or 4.45 points to trade at 38.07 at the close. Meanwhile, Orange SA (PARIS:ORAN) added 7.49% or 1.03 points to end at 14.85 and Saint Gobain (PARIS:SGOB) was up 5.21% or 2.12 points to 42.74 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Technip (PARIS:TECF), which fell 0.45% or 0.26 points to trade at 57.34 at the close. Pernod Ricard (PARIS:PERP) added 0.76% or 0.80 points to end at 105.60 and Michelin (PARIS:MICP) was up 1.55% or 1.52 points to 99.35.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Numericable Pr (PARIS:NUME) which rose 14.15% to 54.790, Bouygues (PARIS:BOUY) which was up 13.24% to settle at 38.07 and Iliad (PARIS:ILD) which gained 10.39% to close at 226.30.
The worst performers were CGG (PARIS:GEPH) which was down 0.92% to 5.58 in late trade, Maurel Et Prom (PARIS:MAUP) which lost 0.75% to settle at 7.04 and Technip (PARIS:TECF) which was down 0.45% to 57.34 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 746 to 173 and 56 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 16.87% to 22.55.
Gold for August delivery was down 1.60% or 19.20 to $1182.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.75% or 0.45 to hit $59.52 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.88% or 0.56 to trade at $62.47 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.04% to 1.1349, while EUR/GBP rose 0.38% to 0.7176.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.17% at 94.47.
