Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Consumer Services and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 1.19% to hit a new 1-month high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 1.17%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP), which rose 9.25% or 1.16 points to trade at 13.64 at the close. Meanwhile, LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PA:LVMH) added 7.48% or 10.75 points to end at 154.45 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) was up 4.91% or 2.15 points to 45.96 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP), which fell 1.27% or 1.30 points to trade at 101.05 at the close. Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP) declined 0.80% or 0.67 points to end at 82.65 and Essilor International Compagnie Generale d’Optique SA (PA:ESSI) was down 0.49% or 0.60 points to 122.85.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were STMicroelectronics (PA:STM) which rose 9.66% to 6.458, Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) which was up 9.25% to settle at 13.64 and Ipsos (PA:ISOS) which gained 8.77% to close at 29.26.
The worst performers were Ingenico Group (PA:INGC) which was down 9.18% to 99.77 in late trade, Sartorius Stedim Biotech (PA:STDM) which lost 1.52% to settle at 64.91 and Orpea (PA:ORP) which was down 1.39% to 79.45 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 456 to 226 and 90 ended unchanged.
Shares in Ipsos (PA:ISOS) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 8.77% or 2.36 to 29.26.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 2.22% to 19.23.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.42% or 5.55 to $1333.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 2.40% or 1.03 to hit $41.89 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.56% or 1.16 to trade at $44.07 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.06% to 1.0992, while EUR/GBP rose 0.06% to 0.8376.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.13% at 97.30.
