Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.41%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.43%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 5.70% or 0.378 points to trade at 7.012 at the close. Meanwhile, AXA SA (PA:AXAF) added 3.71% or 0.81 points to end at 22.63 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) was up 2.86% or 1.50 points to 53.88 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Essilor International Compagnie Generale d’Optique SA (PA:ESSI), which fell 6.06% or 6.17 points to trade at 95.63 at the close. Vinci SA (PA:SGEF) declined 3.76% or 2.30 points to end at 58.80 and Sodexo (PA:EXHO) was down 1.64% or 1.66 points to 99.69.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) which rose 5.70% to 7.012, Bollore SA (PA:BOLL) which was up 4.71% to settle at 2.980 and AXA SA (PA:AXAF) which gained 3.71% to close at 22.63.
The worst performers were Essilor International Compagnie Generale d’Optique SA (PA:ESSI) which was down 6.06% to 95.63 in late trade, Vinci SA (PA:SGEF) which lost 3.76% to settle at 58.80 and GTT (PA:GTT) which was down 3.25% to 31.89 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 389 to 294 and 104 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 0.91% to 19.18.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.15% or 1.80 to $1211.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.72% or 0.83 to hit $47.41 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.02% or 0.50 to trade at $48.40 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.08% to 1.0623, while EUR/GBP rose 0.59% to 0.8557.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 101.12.
