Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Energy, Mining and REITs sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite declined 0.03%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Bombardier Inc (TO:BBDb), which rose 11.86% or 0.14 points to trade at 1.32 at the close. Meanwhile, Aimia Inc (TO:AIM) added 8.08% or 0.73 points to end at 9.77 and ProMetic Life Sciences Inc. (TO:PLI) was up 7.80% or 0.23 points to 3.18 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Autocanada Inc (TO:ACQ), which fell 6.79% or 1.86 points to trade at 25.54 at the close. Aecon Group Inc . (TO:ARE) declined 4.88% or 0.74 points to end at 14.42 and Linamar Corporation (TO:LNR) was down 2.91% or 2.19 points to 73.03.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 728 to 649 and 191 ended unchanged.
Shares in ProMetic Life Sciences Inc. (TO:PLI) rose to all time highs; up 7.80% or 0.23 to 3.18.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 2.89% to 17.45 a new 3-months low.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.27% or 2.90 to $1070.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.57% or 0.24 to hit $43.12 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.29% or 0.14 to trade at $46.26 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.11% to 0.7523, while CAD/EUR rose 0.34% to 0.7085.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.13% at 99.82.
