Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the IT, Industrials and Energy sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite added 0.06%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Westshore Terminals Investment Corp (TO:WTE), which rose 4.84% or 1.01 points to trade at 21.87 at the close. Meanwhile, Crew Energy Inc (TO:CR) added 4.75% or 0.30 points to end at 6.61 and MAG Silver Corp . (TO:MAG) was up 3.24% or 0.64 points to 20.38 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Computer Modelling Group Ltd. (TO:CMG), which fell 3.11% or 0.30 points to trade at 9.34 at the close. Badger Daylighting Ltd . (TO:BAD) declined 2.60% or 0.70 points to end at 26.25 and B2Gold Corp (TO:BTO) was down 2.59% or 0.100 points to 3.760.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 644 to 467 and 148 ended unchanged.
Shares in Crew Energy Inc (TO:CR) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 4.75% or 0.30 to 6.61.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 10.64% to 13.44.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.03% or 0.35 to $1324.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $47.34 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.12% or 0.06 to trade at $49.73 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.57% to 0.7694, while CAD/EUR rose 0.20% to 0.6870.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.80% at 95.44.
