Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials, Consumption and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 3.88%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3), which rose 2.11% or 0.35 points to trade at 16.92 at the close. Meanwhile, Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) added 1.74% or 0.54 points to end at 31.55 and Vale SA (SA:VALE3) was up 1.46% or 0.41 points to 28.47 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3), which fell 11.76% or 3.08 points to trade at 23.12 at the close. Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) declined 10.03% or 4.80 points to end at 43.05 and Banco Santander Brasil SA (SA:SANB11) was down 7.99% or 2.25 points to 25.91.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 277 to 111 and 22 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 17.62% to 45.32.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.07% or 0.85 to $1173.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 2.89% or 1.43 to hit $50.87 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 3.70% or 5.58 to trade at $145.12 .
USD/BRL was up 2.54% to 3.4700, while EUR/BRL rose 3.07% to 3.6943.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.49% at 101.13.
