Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate, Public Utilities and Electric Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 3.30% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3), which rose 9.89% or 0.52 points to trade at 5.78 at the close. Meanwhile, Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) added 7.67% or 2.17 points to end at 30.45 and Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) was up 4.98% or 0.60 points to 12.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cia Paranaense de Energia (SA:CPLE6), which fell 12.36% or 4.02 points to trade at 28.51 at the close. Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA:SBSP3) declined 10.38% or 3.14 points to end at 27.11 and ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) was down 9.67% or 0.590 points to 5.510.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 273 to 102 and 24 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 9.68% to 45.20 a new 6-months high.
Gold for December delivery was down 3.36% or 42.55 to $1223.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 3.11% or 1.39 to hit $43.27 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 1.80% or 2.93 to trade at $159.57 .
USD/BRL was up 0.08% to 3.3917, while EUR/BRL fell 0.26% to 3.6792.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.26% at 99.05.
